1-Red shield
Lycopene, which gives its colour to red fruits such as tomatoes, watermelons, rosehips, pink grapefruits and papayas, is a powerful antioxidant. In addition to its rejuvenating feature, detoxification and heart-friendliness, lycopene acts as a red shield against prostate. It is a better source of lycopene inside that the absorption of cooked products such as tomato sauces, soup, puree, tomato paste is higher. Since it cannot be stored in the body, it is necessary to consume foods containing lycopene at certain intervals.
2- Both filling and protective
There are many studies suggesting that isoflavone, which has anti-inflammatory properties, provides protection against prostate cancer. It can also be obtained by consuming Isoflavone chickpeas, beans and lentils, which are mostly made of soybeans, such as soy cheese, soy milk, tempeh, miso, natto and soy sauce fermented cooked soybeans. At the same time, long-term and excessive use of soy products, which are a good source of phytoestrogen, should be made under the control of a doctor according to the person and health status.
3- Don't miss the broccoli from your table
Broccoli, which has phytochemicals that reduce oxidative stress or oxygen-free radicals in the body, is protective against both benign prostate growth and prostate cancer. In addition to broccoli containing sulforaphane, which is used in the treatment of prostate cancer, cauliflower, Brussels sprouts and cabbage should also be added to the diet.
4- Pomegranate juice next to meals
Pomegranate juice, which is a good antioxidant, has protective properties against prostate cancer while keeping PSA level under control. Studies also reveal that the components called ellagitannin in pomegranate prevent the growth of new blood vessels necessary to feed prostate tumours.
5- Magic spice turmeric
Turmeric, one of the indispensable spices of Asian cuisine, is a great protection against prostate growth and prostate cancer due to its anti-inflammatory properties as well as the curcumin content. Studies show that turmeric provides effective results in the fight against prostate cancer cells, which are good for prostate growth and inflammation associated with prostatitis. While turmeric, which has been known to affect inflammation for years, can be consumed as a powder, it can also be added to meals.
6- Exercise should be a part of your life
Exercise, which has many positive effects on health such as bone health, cardiovascular diseases, weight control and psychological benefits, also provides protection from prostate diseases. Research shows that regular physical activity reduces the likelihood of developing prostate cancer. Those receiving prostate cancer treatment should pay particular attention to providing good pelvic floor strength to reduce the side effects of treatment and improve urinary and sexual function. At this stage, it is important to select the exercise programs to be selected in consultation with the doctor.
7- Do not neglect your routine checks
For prostate cancer, it is appropriate to start routine checks after the age of 50. However, people with prostate cancer in their family should start their controls earlier. PSA tests should be added to men's routine health checks after these ages.
Control intervals should be determined by the doctor according to the examination and PSA values. If the cancer has not been diagnosed despite finger prostate examination, PSA and biopsy, but the suspicion persists, different tumour markers are investigated in blood, prostate tissue and urine. Recently, MRI imaging of the prostate helps the diagnosis.
