Gynecology & Obstetrics
At Memorial Women’s Health & Obstetrics, we specialize in caring for women at every stage of life. Our expert team combines advanced technology with personalized treatments to ensure the best outcomes
What Is Obstetrics & Gynecology?
Obstetrics and gynecology focus on the health of a woman’s reproductive system and all conditions related to pregnancy and childbirth. Also known as gynecology, this specialty covers the diagnosis and treatment of issues affecting the ovaries, uterus, bladder, and genital area.
Common concerns include irregular menstrual cycles, vaginal discharge, ovarian cysts, endometriosis, fibroids, uterine or cervical cancer, infertility, pelvic pain, sexual dysfunction, and urinary incontinence.
The department also supports patients who wish to become parents through fertility treatments such as insemination and IVF.
An obstetrics and gynecology specialist provides comprehensive care, offering expert diagnosis, advanced treatment options, and personalized solutions across a wide range of women’s health needs.
What areas does the gynecology and obstetrics department cover?
Pregnancy Follow-Up
Every expectant parent wants to confirm pregnancy as early and accurately as possible, yet home tests alone are not enough. At Memorial’s Obstetrics & Gynecology Department, we use the latest technologies to provide precise pregnancy detection and comprehensive follow-up. From calculating gestational age to monitoring pregnancy-related issues, identifying high-risk pregnancies, offering nutritional guidance, and preparing families through childbirth education classes, every step is managed with meticulous care.
With our experienced OB-GYN specialists, this exciting journey is supported in the safest, most reliable, and most comfortable way.
A Comfortable Birth Experience
Following a carefully monitored pregnancy process, Memorial ensures that childbirth is equally comfortable and reassuring. Both vaginal and C-section deliveries are performed by experienced obstetricians in state-of-the-art delivery rooms and operating theaters. Postpartum care is carried out with the same level of precision and compassion, ensuring the mother’s smooth recovery.
A Newborn-Friendly Hospital
Your baby, your most precious treasure, receives dedicated, expert care from the very first breath. Our experienced Memorial Neonatal Team provides attentive support from birth onward.
During your hospital stay, families receive practical training to minimize challenges upon returning home. For nutrition guidance during pregnancy and breastfeeding, our Obstetrics & Gynecology team works closely with the Memorial Nutrition & Diet Department. Should emotional support be needed, our Psychology Department provides coordinated care. This multidisciplinary approach ensures that every health need of both mother and baby is met seamlessly and professionally.
Birth Control & Family Planning
Birth control includes a wide range of methods suitable for both women and men. At Memorial, these options are evaluated and recommended by OB-GYN specialists, who work with each patient to determine the safest and most effective choice. A patient’s medical history, existing conditions, lifestyle, and psychological well-being are all considered to ensure a personalized and accurate plan.
Because easily accessible methods such as birth control pills are not suitable for everyone, professional guidance is essential. Family planning is a highly individualized process and must be carefully evaluated by a specialist.
A Global Reference Center in IVF
One of Memorial’s greatest advantages is its close integration with our internationally recognized IVF Centers, known for some of the highest success rates in the region. This coordinated structure allows exceptional results in infertility treatments, psychological counseling, genetic testing of embryos (PGT), diagnosis and management of recurrent miscarriages, prenatal screening, and high-risk pregnancy monitoring. With cutting-edge technology and world-class expertise, Memorial remains a reference point for hopeful parents worldwide.

What Treatment Methods Are Used in Obstetrics & Gynecology?
The Obstetrics & Gynecology Department covers a wide range of conditions, each requiring personalized treatment protocols. Treatment methods vary depending on the specific condition and patient needs.
Beyond pregnancy care, our department actively provides specialized care in pediatric and adolescent gynecology, reproductive health, high-risk pregnancies, gynecologic cancers, urogynecology, sexual dysfunction, menopause, and genital aesthetics.
Some conditions can be effectively treated with medication, while others may require surgical intervention.
The most commonly performed surgical procedures in our Obstetrics & Gynecology Department include:
Laparoscopic Surgery
Laparoscopy, also known as “minimally invasive” or “keyhole” surgery, is used to treat a wide range of gynecological conditions. Small incisions are made in the abdomen, one for a camera and two or three for surgical instruments. Common procedures include ovarian cyst removal, fibroid surgery, hysterectomy, endometrioma (chocolate cyst) treatment, deep pelvic endometriosis, ectopic pregnancy, tubal ligation, ovary or uterus removal, and select cancer surgeries.
Benefits: minimal pain, reduced risk of infection, smaller scars, shorter hospital stays, less bleeding, and safe application even in cancer cases.
Robotic Surgery
Robotic-assisted surgery allows precise movements in complex gynecologic, urogynecologic, and oncologic operations. It is commonly used for:
- Uterine, cervical, and ovarian cancers
- Hysterectomy (uterus removal)
- Urinary incontinence and uterine prolapse
- Fibroid removal (myomectomy)
- Endometriosis and ovarian cysts
Robotic surgery minimizes surgical risks, reduces scar tissue formation, and is especially valuable in advanced endometriosis or myomectomy procedures where precision is critical for future fertility.
Fibroid (Myoma) Surgery
Fibroid removal can be performed laparoscopically or robotically. Open surgery is preferred when fibroids are numerous, large, or located in difficult areas. In older patients, hysterectomy may be considered, whereas younger patients often retain the uterus.
Ovarian Surgery
Ovarian surgery involves removing one or both ovaries and can be combined with a hysterectomy if needed. It is indicated for benign ovarian cysts, ovarian cancer, or in patients at high risk due to breast cancer.
Gynecologic Oncology Surgery
30–40% of cancers in women originate in organs such as the breast, uterus, cervix, and ovaries. Our department provides comprehensive treatment for gynecologic cancers using a combination of surgery, chemotherapy, and radiotherapy. Procedures may include laparoscopic, robotic, or open surgery depending on the patient’s condition.
HPV Management
Human Papillomavirus (HPV) is common and can lead to genital warts or cervical cancer in some cases. Regular Pap smear testing and HPV DNA testing enable early detection of pre-cancerous changes, allowing timely treatment to prevent progression to cancer.
Hysteroscopy
Hysteroscopy uses a fiber-optic camera inserted through the cervix to examine the uterine cavity. It is applied to evaluate uterine abnormalities, adhesions, polyps, or fibroids, and can also allow simultaneous treatment.
Probe Curettage (D&C)
Curettage involves removing tissue from the uterine lining. It can be diagnostic or therapeutic, addressing issues such as abnormal uterine bleeding, thickened endometrium, or suspicion of uterine cancer.
Genital Aesthetic Procedures
Genital aesthetic procedures improve appearance and function, including:
- Labiaplasty
- Vaginoplasty
- Repair of post-delivery tears
- Mons pubis contouring
- Hymen reconstruction
- Vaginal whitening
Uterine and Bladder Prolapse Treatment
Common after childbirth, prolapse can cause pain, urinary incontinence, and recurrent infections. Minimally invasive surgeries restore function and comfort.
In-Vitro Fertilization (IVF)
IVF is recommended for couples who have been unable to conceive naturally for over a year. Our internationally recognized IVF center ensures advanced techniques and high success rates.
Perinatology Treatments
Perinatology focuses on high-risk pregnancies and maternal-fetal health from preconception through the first four weeks after birth. Memorial’s Perinatal Diagnosis and Treatment Center provides personalized care for complications such as:
- Chronic maternal diseases
