PAP Smear test is effective in controlling the disease

Cervical cancer is a type of cancer that can be controlled by regular examination and screening programs and can be treated when diagnosed early. Today, the most common method used in screening for this cancer is the PAP smear test. With the smear test, which every woman with active sexual life should have once a year, abnormal structures that have not yet turned into cancer in the cervix but are preliminary lesions of cancer are detected and the patient is fully recovered. In addition to the smear test, HPV screening test is also of great importance in terms of preventing cancer development.

Controls should not be neglected

All women with active sex life should have smear tests at intervals recommended by their doctor. Tests should not be disrupted during menopause. After the age of 65, if the patient has at least three normal smear test results until then, smear tests can be terminated with the knowledge of her doctor. In addition, if there is a suspicious condition in the smear test, further examinations are required.
